Brown Ombre Dresser Redo

Hey Lovely Readers, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! First, I wanted to let you know that I'm guest posting over at Blissful and Domestic, go check it out! 

I'm also here to share a project I finished up last week. I found a nice dresser at D.I. for my son's bedroom, but it definitely needed a makeover. 

First since it was a laminate piece of furniture, it needed a coat of primer. I used the Glidden Gripper.

Once the coat of primer was dry I painted the body of the dresser and one of the drawers with the straight brown paint.

Then I poured the paint in 3 separate cupes and added a little bit of lighter tan paint that I had leftover from touching up our apartment. I just added a bit more to each additional one

to make each drawer progressively lighter.

There you go, you've got an ombre dresser. I love how it turned out, exactly what I wanted! I just love being able to take a boring piece of furniture and making it a piece that is unique and has character. 

I'm still not quite sure what to do with the drawer pulls though, any ideas?? Please share!

My Veteran's Day Weekend

Hey everyone, sorry I've been MIA for a bit!

This weekend I took a trip with a couple of the young women from my church and some other leaders. We went to Salt Lake City to see several different Church sites.

We also got to go to a BYU women's volleyball game, which we all loved!

It was snowy and freezing the whole time we were there until the day we left it was sunny! ha

I'm glad to be back in Vegas where it's sunny and 65 today! Instead of snowing and 20! lol

How did you spend your weekend? Did you get Monday off? Is it snowy where you live?

Black Bean Quesadillas

Don't you just love a quick and easy (and healthy) recipe? I do! This is a favorite among all my boys. 

I recently made a double batch of these black bean quesadillas and froze them for my husband's lunches at work. Also great for a quick lunch for the boys when I'm lazy!

Black Bean Quesadillas: (original recipe from Budget Bytes, I've tweaked it a bit)
-1 (15 oz) can black beans, rinsed (I cook my own beans in my slow cooker and freeze them- recipe HERE)
-1 cup frozen corn
- 1/4 cup diced red onion, sometimes I leave this out
-2 cups shredded cheese
-2 TBSP taco seasoning
-10 taco sized tortillas
-sour cream (optional) I like to add sour cream to make it all a bit more creamy


So basically I just mix it all together and put about 2 scoops into a tortilla, fold in half, and crisp it in a pan. If you're going to freeze them let them cool then freeze flat on a tray for an hour before putting them in a freezer bag together.

There you go, it's so simple and they freeze really well for quick and healthy lunches!
