Wedding Gifts

I hope you all had a fantastic Memorial day. I apparently didn't get the memo that everything closes early. Is that new?? lol I swear I've never run into that problem before. Oh well.

My best friend from high school is getting married this summer and I wanted to put together something special and meaningful for her. I know everyone appreciates the things they registered for, but some of the most special gifts I received were the handmade or personalized gifts. My husband's great grandma made us a blanket and my best friend gave me a beautiful engraved picture frame.

So I put together a couple things for them to commemorate their wedding day that they can also use as decoration in their home.

I made this cute picture hanging from her beautiful engagement photos

and this heart to either hang on the wall or as a wedding photo prop (or both).

I'm so excited for her wedding, I know she's going to be such a beautiful bride and I can't wait to see my little man in a tux, he's going to be the ring bearer!! :-)

Lamp Re-Redo

Well I didn't plan on being absent for so long. I took my boys and spent a week in Arizona with my mom and last week I needed some personal time. So that's where I've been. I've worked on several projects, but can't share many of them because I've made them for a few friends with weddings coming up.

I can share this lamp redo. About a month ago, the floor lamp I had in my little man's room got knocked over and broke. I've just been putting off buying a new one, but luckily I came across one in the closet that wasn't being used. It was formerly in the living room and looked like this.

Not quite the look I'm going for in my little boys room.

So...

I changed it up again. I took the flower and ribbon off.

I measured the shade

and cut my fabric.

I took the shade outside and sprayed it with spray glue.

Applied the fabric and tucked the edges under

and then you have a totally different lamp shade.

Mother's Day Birthstone Necklace

****SPOILER ALERT****

Mom, if you're reading this, STOP NOW! Thanks :-D

If you're not my mom, keep reading for a super cute Mother's day gift idea.

I found this inspiration on Pinterest several weeks ago and knew I wanted to make this for my mom for mother's day.

The great thing is they are super simple and take about 20 minutes or less.

Sarah Ortega, gives a great tutorial on how to make this necklace. Here is how I made mine, which is pretty much the same. I used birthstone beads for each of the grand kids in the necklace above.

Start by threading the beads on the wire

Tuck the end of the wire around the last bead

Then slide the rest of the beads back down to cover the end (sorry for the blurry photo, darn camera)

Next arrange them in a group how you'd like

Begin wrapping the wire around in a circle and start forming your nest

Then wrap around the edge a couple times if you like this look

With or without the wrapped edges

There you go, a super cute and super easy gift for your mom, grandma, sister, friend, yourself :-D
Happy Mother's Day!
