Update On Our DIY Patio Cover

Summer is definitely here in Las Vegas and the heat can be killer to your mood and your wallet!! So I finally got more shade screen up on our DIY patio cover. I got the shade screen at Home Depot (here) and basically stapled it to the posts.

Here it is in the early morning

Early afternoon it starts doing it's job! It really is amazing how you can feel the difference standing underneath it!

Since it can get really windy here (40 mph winds are no stranger to us!) I made sure to secure it a bit more at the end of each post and where the two shade screens meet. I was going to run a slim piece of wood down the entire length of the posts, but paint sticks are free! :-D Yep, just a bunch of paint sticks screwed on top of the screen and it has been holding great!
